Associate Professor David Blazar is featured in an Education Week article that examines Maryland鈥檚 investment in high school 鈥済row-your-own鈥 teacher pathways and whether they are paying off. The research finds that programs like the Teacher Academy of Maryland (TAM) are helping build interest in the profession and modestly increasing the number of students who ultimately become teachers while also improving graduation rates.
As Blazar explains, 鈥淭he TAM program does seem to be building interest in the profession and long-term career decisions. 鈥 I鈥檝e heard from youth who have gone through all the courses that the teaching practice was really exciting and they wanted that experience earlier on.鈥
